Resumen:
The Brazilian power system has two commercial environments operating together: the regulated market (ACR), with about 70% of the consumers and the ACL, with the remaining 30%. These two commercial environments should produce economic signals adequate to assure a generation/transmission expansion as close as possible to an optimal expansion. The paper shows how these two markets interact, what are the paradigms of each one of them to achieve the required expansion and how the current framework could be improved.
